The Music Man Project - The Together Space

A music education & performance club for children with disabilities aged 8+

FREE Trial Session for Children with Disabilities (Aged 8+)

We're delighted to invite families to a special free trial session as The Together Space partners with The Music Man Project to bring an exciting new inclusive music programme to our community.

Founded by former UK Disability and Access Ambassador for Arts and Culture and Churchill Fellow, David Stanley BEM,  The Music Man Project is a multi-award-winning, world record-breaking international music education charity for people with learning disabilities. The Music Man Project transforms the lives of children and adults with learning disabilities through high-quality music education and performance opportunities. Rather than offering music therapy, The Music Man Project believes that people with disabilities deserve access to the same practical, live group music tuition and performance experiences as their mainstream peers.

At The Together Space, we are passionate about creating opportunities for children and families to connect, thrive and feel truly included. This partnership brings together our shared commitment to accessibility, community and empowering every child to reach their potential.

What to Expect

During this 90-minute trial session, children will learn to sing, sign, play and dance to repertoire from The Music Man Project Songbook in a fun, welcoming and supportive environment. Through singing, signing, playing instruments and performing together, pupils develop confidence, musical skills, friendships and a strong sense of belonging.

This trial session will help shape the launch of a regular The Music Man Project programme at The Together Space, planned to begin later this year.

Meet Your Tutor

The session will be led by Laura Forbes, a qualified music teacher, choir leader and inclusive arts practitioner with more than 20 years of experience across schools, hospitals and community settings.

Laura is currently Music and Performing Arts Teacher at South Grove Primary School and has previously worked at The Vale Special School, The Brook Special School and Great Ormond Street Hospital School. She is the founder and Musical Director of Sing17 Community Choir, has worked extensively in inclusive performing arts, and has led projects supporting disabled and non-disabled young people to create and perform together.
