Join us on Sunday 18th October for Family Play at The Together Space, 1 Church Hill, Walthamstow! We love our new home in the heart of Walthamstow, and we can’t wait to welcome you in.
What will this event be like? Our first Family Play Event in our new home will bring you the same welcoming mix of creative, active and quieter activities in a more intimate setting.
The space is smaller than Gnome House, so there will be fewer tickets and the event will be a little shorter. There won’t be soft play, a ball pit, inflatables or outdoor play at this event. We’ll send you our pre-event document with photos so you and your child can see what to expect before you arrive.
Our inclusive events, which welcome children with and without disabilities and their families, are thoughtfully designed to create the opportunity for all families to connect, exercise, play, learn and grow together, without stigma or awkwardness.
This month's inclusive activities for everyone to enjoy are:
SENSORY SAND GARDENS WITH ART FOREST SCHOOL: Led by Pippa and Lucy, children are invited to make 'Sensory Sand Gardens', inspired by Japanese Zen gardens and the 'Shadow Boxes' of the 20th Century American artist Joseph Cornell. The workshop will give children an opportunity to make art in a way that appeals to their inbuilt inquisitiveness and creativity, and aims to have a calming effect by using natural sensory materials.
INTRODUCTION TO WEIGHTLIFTING WORKSHOP WITH EMMA: Fitness and weightlifting legend Emma is back again in October for another introduction to weight-lifting workshop. With a focus on achieving correct form and posture, this fun fitness session will use equipment kindly donated by ADP Sport.
ACTIVE PLAY & READING AREA Enjoy our wide range of toys, games and books; from train sets to sensory toys, there's something for all ages and interests.
SENSORY SPACE: Tucked away in our lobby, our sensory room is a calming and quiet space designed for those who might need a break from the main hall. Featuring soft lighting, bean bags and sensory toys, it's a little room of respite.
TUCK SHOP & SEND COFFEE: The Together Space Tuck Shop will be open serving children's snacks and soft drinks and our friends from SEND Coffee will be back too!
